What's the difference between Comprehensive Medical Expenses+ and other plans?

The Comprehensive Medical Expenses+ plan is our premium offering that includes everything in our Comprehensive Medical Expenses plan plus extended coverages such as alternative treatments, boarding fees, advertising and rewards for missing pets, dental coverage, death benefits*, and prescription diet coverage. It also comes with the highest annual benefit limit (R45,000) and the highest third-party liability coverage (R200,000).

What is the waiting period before I can claim?

There is a general waiting period of 31 days from the start of your policy before you can claim for illness-related conditions. For pre-existing conditions, there is a 12-month waiting period. Claims for accidents are typically covered after your policy is in effect, with no waiting period.

How does the excess work?

For each claim, you pay an excess of 10% of the claim amount, with a minimum of R500. For example, if your vet bill is R3,000, you would pay R500 (as 10% would be R300, but the minimum is R500). For a bill of R7,000, you would pay R700 (10% of the claim amount).

What does the Routine Care option include?

The Routine Care option (R78 per month) provides coverage for preventative treatments up to a value of R1,500 per year. This includes vaccinations, deworming, flea control, health checks, dental check-ups, and more. No excess applies to Routine Care claims.

How does the "Double Up" option work?

The Double Up option allows you to double your annual benefit* limits by doubling your premium. For example, with this option, your annual benefit* limit would increase from R45,000 to R90,000. This is particularly valuable for pet owners who want additional peace of mind or have pets that may require extensive medical care.

Is there an age limit for pets on this plan?

Yes, pets must be between 8 weeks and 9 years of age when first enrolled in the plan. However, once your pet is enrolled, they can remain covered for life as long as you maintain your policy, regardless of their age.

What types of alternative treatments are covered?

Under the extended coverage of this plan, alternative treatments include acupuncture, chiropractic treatment, homeopathy, hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, and laser therapy, when recommended by your veterinarian for covered conditions. This is a unique benefit of the Comprehensive Medical Expenses+ plan.
