What inspired you to become a rider?

I grew up with horses, since I can remember horses have been a part of my life. My sister, Michelle competed in the opens at the time, and if anything I would say she inspired me. I remember always saying I want to ride like her someday, she makes it look so easy.

For you, what are the most rewarding aspects of being a rider?

I love to work with young horses, for me the most rewarding feeling is seeing a young horse progress. I love how they have so much to give if you understand their language and school them accordingly.

What’s your favourite memories or experiences related to riding?

Winning a class is always a nice memory, but I think my favourite experience was when I bought my first horse, Urban Beat. That feeling was surreal.

What’s your favourite go-to to prepare yourself and your horse for competitions or events?

I love to do a lot of gymnastics with my horses. The week before the show I would do a little course and I always try to do my last jumping on the Wednesday before the show. Thursday and Friday I would usually do some lateral work and a lot of transitions.

What challenges have you faced in your riding journey, and how have you overcome them?

For me, my biggest challenge was to keep up financially to attend to shows on a regular basis. I always had the opportunity to have my horses with me on the property which helped a lot with time management & training. Just never financially stable enough to do shows.

What are your current riding goals and aspirations?

To get Beat in the 1.10s this year. I would like to do shows more regularly and also focus on self-care and fitness.

Do you have a favourite horse that you’ve ridden, and what makes them special?

I might be a little bit biased here, but Beat is my ultimate favourite horse to ride. He is just such a cool dude with a lot of personality. I had him since he was a 3yo, the people that know him, will tell you he was a VERY playful youngster & I always had to have my sticky pants on. Today he is so cool & does his job so easily. I always have a smile on my face when I ride him.

In your opinion, what stands out the most about ARCO360?

The fact that they insure horses older than 21! I am at peace knowing my horses would be insured for the rest of their lifetime even if they turn 30 years old.

I also love the fact that they have a colic cover which covers your horses even in the event that they don’t need surgery or hospital care. Colic’s can be so vague & sometimes we just need someone to pay the vet when they come to the yard and treat the horse there, Arco360 is that someone and that’s great!/p>

Their claiming process is seamless. I had to make a claim once in my 3 years with them, their response was so quick & the payment was sorted the next day.
